The health fund director at that time, who realized the great need for developing such specialized medical services, was asked in an interview,'What do you see
in this?'. His reply was:'The future'.
Indeed the future came rapidly and the need for a new, larger building became apparent. Much time, thought and energy were invested in the new facility.
Although it was finished only in 1974, in November of 1973 after the Yom Kippur
War, soldiers were admitted even while
the scaffolding was still
in place.
Today this impressive facility, a multi-floor modern building situated on a large gardened area, accommodates 240 rehabilitative beds for short and long term hospital care.
As a national rehabilitative center, patients are admitted from all parts of the country, all the health funds, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Health, general hospitals and clinics in the community and from overseas.
The Center is affiliated to the Sackler Faculty of Medicine at the Tel Aviv University and participates in a training program for medical students. It is also
accredited by the Scientific Council of the Medical Association as a center for physicians specializing in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Thanks to an endowment from the Ilby and Aladar Fleishman Foundation, a new
building was added in l995 to provide the necessary space for the many diagnostic and clinic services required for the continually growing patient population. |
